What people think
We did a Interview with two persons. We asked what they think about the art of Anita Malfatti, more specifically, about the picture "A Boba". The person number one likes the way that the woman was shown, as a grotesque woman. The impression that the person number one has is that the woman is insensitive, that she controls her emotions and that she is unshaken. The person number two think that was interesting the way that the panting was made with light strokes that facility the mystery of who is this woman. The person number two has a impression that the woman looks angry but, in his opinion, she actually was nice and just felt alone.
The Idiot - My impressions and opinion
One of the first characteristics that we notice when we see the paint is the deformation of the portraited woman, that causes certain curiosity on those that appreciate the artwork.
Some says that “the idiot” is Anita's own self portrait, others that portrays the psychological state of the model, but we arrived at the conclusion that in truth it may represent Anita's own questions.
Dealing with an active search moment, we can say that she wanted to bring to her work, things that arouse the curiosity and imagination of the public.
The woman's lost eyes, her divided hair, her expressionless mouth, Anita's colors choice, all that, brings to the public interesting questions: Who is the figure? Where is she looking at? What is she thinking? Why she painted the idiot? Why she gave that title?, none of those questions have a definitive answer, what brings to the picture a touch of mystery too.
The portrait is really intrigant and critic, we think that the work is well done and portrays Anita's feeling in relation to the critics received by the brazilian 's society.

The Anita Malfatti’s art concepts represented something new to the standards of the epoch and the "new", generally scares, so this explains the criticism that she faced. Anita’s idea of art did not look like the Academy’s one.
Her concept of art came to mess what was accept. She thought that the ugly, such as the beautiful, takes part of the reality and must be retracted by the artists. because of those things, Her modern paintings had a lot of reasons to do not be accepts.
The society’s representatives considered the exhibition a scandal, and it brought disastrous consequences for the Anita Malfatti’s artistic future. Surrounded of criticism from the people whose she thought that were friends, Anita, shy, fell into depression and decreased in her artistic production. Monteiro Lobato showed his displeasure with destructive criticisms. Even emphasizing the modernism in his criticisms, Monteiro Lobato smote anita and not the new artistic style, because she could not separate of her art.
